About the Instructor: Katy Kern discovered yoga as a little girl in the late 70s. She practiced for many years before she trained to be a certified yoga instructor. She is certified in Classical Hatha Yoga, Alignment-based Yoga, Restorative and Yin Yoga and is soon to be certified in Thai Bodywork. Her focus as a teacher is helping people reduce the effects of stress and anxiety that are so prevalent in today’s culture so they can live full, unencumbered lives. When she discovered yin yoga, her practice and teaching changed dramatically as the passive style of yoga allowed her to dig deep, discover greater ways to relax and to help her students understand the tools they already have to achieve relaxation. Her mantra is the Chinese proverb, “Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.”
